Amora allows children to experience cooking family recipes, bringing the warmth of “momma’s touch” even when they’re away from home. Each system includes a pair of camera and projector hubs, as well as temperature and weight-sensitive cookware. With these components, Amora captures the parent’s cooking process through computer vision, transforming it into a personalized, responsive recipe for the child. Communicated through projections, Amora reinvents how family recipes are shared.

Smart home technology has the ability to redefine what "home" means. However, to truly integrate the essence of home with technology, we must understand how these two spaces intersect.
Our research revealed that smart tech should be designed to enhance efficiency and simplify everyday tasks. While this is often accomplished through "automation," using technology to complete tasks can clash with the sense of autonomy people want in their homes.
Usually, home is the one place they feel in control, and we found that many current smart home systems detract from the feeling of "home" by leaving people confused and frustrated by the technology.
Users often struggle when their smart tech doesn’t work as expected, leading to days of troubleshooting with no clear instructions.
On the flip side, others shared experiences of unwanted reactions, where the tech adjusted settings when they preferred consistency, leaving them feeling disconnected from the technology in their own home. While users appreciate the convenience of automation, they want smart tech that automates intelligently to their routines and personal space.
For that, smart home technology must integrate the human element of design, ultimately enhancing the feeling of home, in other words, making, as one interviewee put it, a home just feel right.
